Alberta & BC REGIONAL REP ANNUAL REPORT - 2010
Larry asked me do to a reps report for 2010 so here it is. Because I watch over and negotiate for the chapters, the members need to know what is going on and what Retreads projects I'm working on.
Well, as I have told both chapters, I've been pushing the Old Bones Regional Rally. Drifter Don from the Foothills chapter did a great job of putting the poster together. It was sent out to as many chapters as I have e-mail addresses for. We have had responses from the USA and Ontario but no confirmations yet. I know that the two chapters can work together to make this an even bigger and better event than in the past.
Larry and I fielded some membership drives on www.Kijiji.ca in November and we received calls of interest from Chilliwack, BC and Red Deer, AB. I 'm happy to announce we have an area coordinator in Red Deer. Mr. Dietmar Bruestle and I sat down to lunch and discussed his concerns and the Retreads philosophy and I welcome him into the Retreads family.
I have promised Larry Fowell the position of Regional Rep whenever he is ready to take it over. He has some projects and plans for the Edmonton chapter he would like to complete first. I hope someone will step up and help him as a Vice Area Rep for the Edmonton chapter. It is an opportunity to learn about volunteer management. It is very different than business management.
I would also like to take this time to congratulate the Foothills chapter in reaching it’s fifth year. Feb 13 2005 - Foothills chapter was officially a Retreads chapter. This is due to all the hard work of Dave Corbett and his executive. This chapter has a lot of fun together and uses the Internet to stay in touch with each other. A modern twist on the founding idea of Retreads.
Soon we will be getting into the 2010 riding season. Its wonderful that so many members have renewed already. The Canadian director is amazed at the growth we have in Alberta. I've try to explain to him that it’s the air out here, but I don't think he believes me.
